Migration:
Samuel Bailey spent most of his life at Bailey’s Mills, in Reading, Windsor County, Vermont. He continued the enterprises that his father had begun there, entering into partnerships with other members of the family. He maintained close contact with his children several of whom moved west seeking to improve their lives by homesteading and the purchase of larger farms. See his “Letters and Papers.” He traveled to Iowa and South Dakota to see his children and their families and was at the home of his son Ransom when he died at the age of 97.

James Dyer (September 6, 1817 – April 27, 1860) and Mary Engle (December 21, 1821 – June 26, 1904). James Dyer was a descendant of Governor William Bradford of Plymouth, Massachusetts, an immigrant ancestor.
Samuel Bailey was the son of
Levi Bailey (February 15, 1766 – October 21, 1850) and
Hannah Bailey Bailey (July 3, 1764 – January 26, 1822).
