The list below includes the names of members of the Ausland family with whom we have had significant contact, but it is not an inclusive list.  There are, in fact, many that I have not personally known or heard about.  If there are some who belong on this list, please let me know.

Ausland, Elizabeth Elaine (Liz), married name Liz Bennett, (March 1, 1947 - ) daughter of James Albert Ausland and Frances Elaine Long Ausland, born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, lived in ?? Idaho, and currently in the Denver, Colorado, area, mother of Brad Hovis and Brett Hovis.

Ausland, Frances Elaine Long, (1914 - 1991), daughter of Lloyd Gideon Long and Grace A. Crosswait Long, mother of Susan Kay Ausland Rollins, Mary Kathryn Ausland Allen; and Elizabeth Elaine Ausland Bennett, taught junior high school, born in Fonda, Iowa, lived in Truesdale, Primghar, Emmetsburg, and Curlew, Iowa, and Casa Grande, Arizona.

Ausland, Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, (1827 - 1910), daughter of Ole Anderson Mo and ranghild Torsdatter Vevstad, married Knut Nilsen Eskeland Ausland, mother of eight children including Thor Martin Ausland, Thor Knutsen Ausland and Ole Knutsen Ausland; was a homemaker, born on the farm Moe and moved to the farm Ausland, both in the viscinity of Gjerstad, Norway.

Ausland, Gunvor, (1863 - 19??), daughter of Knut Nilsen Ausland and Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, born and lived in Norway.  Visited her brother, Martin Ausland and his family on one occasion.

Ausland, James Albert, (1914 – 1994), son of Martin and Una Ochsner Ausland; married Frances Elaine Long; father of Susan Kay Ausland Rollins, Mary Kathryn Ausland Allen; and Elizabeth Elaine Ausland Bennett; lumber merchant; Emmetsburg and Curlew, Iowa, and Casa Grande, Arizona.

Ausland, Knut Nilsen (Eskeland) Ausland, (1821 – 1902), son of Nils Einertsen Eskeland and Marte Torsdatter Mo; married Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, father of  Marte Nilsdatter Ausland Eskeland, Nils Knutsen Ausland, Ole Knutsen Ausland, Tor Knutsen Ausland, Ragnhild Ausland, Gunvor Ausland, Thor Martin Ausland, and Einert Knutsen Ausland; farmer near Gjerstad, Norway; born and lived in Norway.

Ausland, Knut Olsen Ausland (1887 – 1976), son of Ole Knutsen Ausland and Ingeborg N. Ultveit; farmer near Gjerstad, Norway. 

Ausland, Sofus, (1915 - ????), son of Knut Ausland and Sigfrid Osmundsen; married Anna Jyserand; father of Liv Ausland and Reiden Ausland; teacher of English and other subjects in ??????????, Norway; researched Ausland and Mo family histories in Norway; visited cousins in U.S.A. in 19?? With his brother Olaf Jarl Ausland and sister Ingeborg Ausland.

Ausland, Martin, (full name: Thor Martin Knutsen Ausland), (1866 – 1924), son of Knut Nilson Ausland and Gunvor Olsdatter Mo., immigrant ancestor, married Una Lenore Ochsner, father of Kathryn Gunvor Ausland Bailey, William Nelson Ausland and James Albert Ausland, emigrated from Norway to the U.S.A., lumber merchant; lived in Osage, Royal, Graettinger and Emmetsburg Iowa, and Chamberlin, South Dakota.

Ausland, Mary Kathryn (Katy), married name Mary Kathryn Ausland Allen, (May 20, 1943 - ), daughter of James Albert Ausland and Frances Elaine Long Ausland, married (1) Kenneth Ralph Owens and (2) Raymond Harry Allen; mother of Rebecca Leigh Owens Pencil and Heath Ausland Owens; elementry school teacher and language arts coordinator; lived in Curlew, Emmetsburg, Cedar Falls, and Waterloo, Iowa, and in the Denver, Colorado area.

Ausland, Nils Knutsen, (1850 – 1909), son of Knut Nilsen Ausland and Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, brother of Martin Ausland.  Born and lived in Norway.

Ausland, Ole Knutsen, (1853 – 1933), son of Knut Nilsen Ausland and Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, brother of Martin Ausland; married Ingeborg N. Ultveit, father of Knut Olsen Ausland, Karen Olsdatter Ausland and seven other children; farmer, near Gjerstad, Norway.

Ausland, Susan Kay, married name Susan Kay Ausland Rollins, (February 3, 1939 - ) daughter of James Albert Ausland and Frances Elaine Long Ausland; married (1) Gary Marshall Lockwood, and (2) James Stanley Rollins; mother of Barbara Lynn Lockwood Weno and James  Kenneth Lockwood; school nurse; lived in Curlew, Emmetsburg, Iowa City, Oscaloosa, Eldredge and Bettendorf, Iowa and in Tucson, Arizona.

Ausland, Thor Knutsen, (also known as “Stor Thor” – “Big Thor”),  (1856 – 1927), son of Knut Nilsen Ausland and Gunvor Olsdatter Mo, emigrated to America before his brother Martin, settling first in Iowa and later in Los Angeles, California.

Ausland, William Nelson (later known as William Martin), (1909 – 1974), son of Martin Ausland and Una Ochsner Ausland, married (1) Jean ??? and (2) Hazel ???; was civilian construction engineer on Wake Island before beginning of World War II when he was taken prisoner by Japanese; following repatriation to Emmetsburg, Iowa, designed and built several homes in partnership with James Albert Ausland; later moved to California and then to Arizona.

Ausland,  Una Lenore Ochsner, (1878 – 1955), daughter of William Henry Ochsner and Lola Kathryn Shontz Ochsner; married Martin Ausland; mother of Kathryn Gunvor Ausland Bailey, William Nelson Ausland and James Albert Ausland; born in Bear Valley, Richland County, Wisconsin, and lived in Chamberlin, Brule County, South Dakota, Royal, Clay County, Iowa, and Graettinger and Emmetsburg, Palo Alto County, Iowa.  Una taught elementary children in Chamberlin before her marriage.
